Finally! Aaron is officially moving home this coming weekend after (what will have been) 4 weeks at Emory University completing his sub-internship. He has loved his time in Atlanta and has greatly enjoyed getting to know the individuals in the surgery department...people who he could be spending the next 5 years working with if we are matched there. I have been able to visit Aaron most weekends and it has been fun to spend some special time together as well as with some sweet friends and family. I have been keeping myself busy traveling back and forth, hosting visitors (thanks for visiting Lou!!), working on some awesome new projects at work, and hanging out with friends. Thanks to all of you who have spent time with me while Aaron has been gone!...you have been my incredible companions!!
While in Atlanta, Aaron had the privilege of interviewing at Emory and the interview went very well! That"s one interview down, six more to go! Yes!! Aaron has been invited to interview at a total of 7 surgical residency programs so far (in no particular order): Emory University (Atlanta, Ga), Medical College of Georgia (Augusta, GA), Mercer University (Macon, GA), University of Tennessee at Knoxville (Knoxville, TN), Mercer University at Savannah (Savannah, GA), Eastern Tennessee State University (Johnson City, TN), and Greenville Hospital System (Greenville, SC). God has truly provided for us while living here in Augusta, and His provisions certainly extend to the costs that could be incurred while Aaron travels to each of these interviews. All of these programs have graciously offered one-night stay at a nearby hotel at no cost to us! They will also be providing all of the meals and have invited me along! What a blessing!! We are excited about traveling to these cities...some we are familiar with and others we are not...and continue to pray that God will give us discernment in where He would have us spend the next phase of Aaron's medical career and where we would hope to begin raising a family. Match day will not come soon enough!
More updates to come! Oh, and officially 199 days left until graduation! :)
